It won't start - I have windows XP
Get Microsoft .NET platform (version 2.0 or newer) from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en
It won't start - I have windows 98/95
Downloader won't work work on those
It says there is not enough space on disk, but I have xx GB free
Downloader uses system temp fildor (same disk as windows by default) for some operations. Make sure your other disk has free space too.
Why does it ask for administrator rights on Vista?
Downloader needs to write mods and maps to spring folder, which is by default in program files. To do it, it needs administrator rights.
To have Vista start Spring Downlaoder with Administrative rights, do the following:
1: Run the Task Scheduler (Use Start->Run and Enter "%systemroot%\System32\taskschd.msc /s")
2: Click the Action Menu and pick "Create Basic Task"
3: Enter what you want for Name and Description, then click "Next".
4: Click "When I Log On" for the Trigger Page and click "Next".
5: Click "Start a Program" on the action page and click "Next".
6: Click Browse and select the CADownloader.exe program from the Spring Folder (usually "c:\program files\spring\cadownloader.exe") and hit "Next".
7: Check the "Open Properties dialog..." and click "Finish".
8: Check the "Run with Highest Priveleges" option and click "OK"
This creates a task to start Spring Downloader as a Windows task.
Finally, when Spring Downloader is running, click on the "Settings" menu and make sure "Run on windows start" is UNchecked, because it will already be starting through the Task Scheduler.
Otherwise, the only known workaround is to disable user access control in Vista settings.
Map XX or mod YY are not in the downloader
Get it using other way and then click "register" to register new file with downloader.
Where are downloader files stored?
In "downloader" folder in spring. It also creates SpringDownloaderConfig.xml and SpringDownloaderErrors.txt files (in its own folder)
