Campaign Missions
There have been quite a few pages about the campaign story but not any (to my knowledge) of the actual gameplay mechanics and/or events of individual missions. Before going through the actual process of making missions, it might be a good idea to have an outline to help ease the process.
notes: The following are generic mission types and more specific objectives for victory. Artifacts can be anything important to the plot, preferably related to commander upgrades or something similar. More specifics can be applied as the final plot solidifies.
Tutorial:
Tutorial missions should focus on teaching the proper and effective use of individual (types of) units. Essential ones early on, and more difficult to use or micro intensive units later on. Tutorial missions should be sprinkled throughout the campaign, not just the beginning.
- Cloggers: enemy has superior economy and tank army on flat world. Build cloggers ftw.
- Fusions: build a superfusion in X (short) amount of time. custom map, limited to 1 mex (cluster?) at beginning, 2 others close to enemy (need to build/maintain defenses to secure them) who otherwise wouldn't attack.
Standard:
standard kill enemy commander and/or army
Snipe:
kill/capture specific unit/building
- Enemy has zenith/starlight/bertha/nuke; must either destroy it or the super fusions powering it
- Teleporter brings in powerful reinforcements intermittently and must be destroyed
Last Stand:
hold out for X time against incoming waves of enemies
- Player must transport artifact off planet infested with chickens. Must spend X resources to build transport while fending off chickens
- Artifact must be charged for X time before use (data transfer, planet purification, emergency signal, etc...)
King of the Hill:
maintain control of area/building for X time
- Player must capture X towers to take control of planetary doomsday device (rush to capture before enemy does)
- Player must clear/secure landing zone for Artifact pickup (or drop?)
Resource Hoard:
stockpile a certain amount of metal/energy
- Artifact's capacitors must be filled for use
- Go about the map collecting tokens (either count as resources or just "points")
special ways to go about objectives:
Stealth player must move unit to location in the midst of an overwhelming enemy base
Tactical no commander/builders. control small squad of units to complete objective
