Personally, id rather discuss what a devs contributions are, and give tips on how to improve the usefulness and productivity of their commits.

Currently there is complete silence in almost every one of these tickets.

This is ridiculous Saktoth. When dealing with people it should be secret, as some people can get offended when someone votes against them (we are dealing with "personal attacks" here) and it can get very messy.

edit: you can still discuss merits of the prospective developers in the discussion even if the vote is secret. Changing it to be open will not change anything except personal (negative) feelings for others.

Its not personal attacks, it should be constructive and transparent.

Everyone will probably be too fragile to say anything anyway...

People are fragile. Not everyone likes to be picked on/talked about.

Now think of the scenario when one dev voted against someone else, but the someone else got accepted. The someone else will likely harbor personal feelings against the devs who voted against them. This is just human nature, and IMO we don't need that sort of drama here.

I really don't like the idea of making these sort of things open. It will influence people to vote differently based upon what they think others will think about them, and not whats best for the game, or what they personally think/feel.

I'm only speaking out against this because I feel that if no-one does, everybody else will not be able to give their input unbiased from peer pressure on future items.

Votes dealing with people should be anonymous 100% .. You don't want to offed people and just displaying you are against someone can be too much for many..

Even in normal votes you can easily be swayed by majority.

For best results, poll should be anonymous and results hidden until conclusion.. But that would make discussions and convincing people harder.
