Does it cause any undesirable consequences that need fixing? Boost rush, coop fac, etc.

This is also a place to discuss solutions, such as fac plop, limited boost, etc.

I would really like to have a pod drop down from the sky which holds the commander. When it crashes down to the ground, it opens up, lets the comm out, and then morphs into a factory.

I made a drop pod for the commander (still a bit unfinished/rough) and I'm trying (a bit unsuccessfully) to get a handle on this new lua animation stuff, but hopefully when its done someone can implement this.

That said, I don't think boost is *too* problematic. Yes there are some strategies that can be lulzy and op but for the most part it works out well.

coop fac

This is undesirable as it's OP but it has nothing to do with boost. It would be even more powerful if we didn't have boost.

Black and white or gray area? You feel it's somewhat problematic but you voted for the no.

Can facplop alleviate this? If one team does pure coop fac assist while the opposing team takes advantage of their facplop and has a combined strong army, does that solve the problem? If not then what can?

edit: Sorry I saw midknight's name and thought it was maackey that voted for the no when he didn't vote yet. But the point remains.

Yes this would solve the problem. I don't think everyone else thinks that it would or that there is a problem at all.

I think the aim of the poll is to find out how many think boost needs any improvement. That is if you're grey you should vote yes.

Note that the poll says 'boost', not 'the start of the game'.

Facplop, limited boost, etc are all 'problems' with boost. How else do you propose to fix fac cooping other than changing boost in some manner? I dont mean removing it.

Co-oping on factories would be there without boost. It would be even more powerful as the time taken would be important too, it's not a problem with boost.

Facplop would probably change boost by reducing it to 500( or maybe less comm E?) but it would do the same to other starting resources.

Boost is the start dynamic used by the game.

Is it problematic? Does it need improvement or changes?

This is the question.

Yes, because it's used in a manner other than its original intent. Its intent is to speed up the start of the game. Instead it's used as an all-or-nothing rush strategy by walking a comm and plopping an HLT in his base. With facplop I hope to address this problem, as well as encourage building of factories. If absolutely necessary, don't use facplop in 1v1 to give more flexibility. But I feel for team games it would work well, even if it doesn't achieve the speed of boost, but it's still faster than classic start.

facplop only addresses the issue that when you share 1 plant you "save" metal (I don't think that this is such a big problem). You won't change HLT boost with that. Only if you limit boost to certain unit categories or reduce it under 400m.

I dont understand how you could be one of the major ones discussing how to fix/change boost, google, then vote against this.

It's the start in general that may need a bit of changing. The issue would be the same without boost so boost is the problematic. Maybe you should make an "Is the start problematic" poll but people don't think it's problematic in the same way.

Maybe everyone should write down their perfect start dynamic somewhere to save the effort of searching around all the topics.
