Makes the lives of noobs easier, IMO.

At the very least we need an easy way to manage the massive number of options we have in game, a frontend for all our widgets.

Enabling this widget would be bad because nubtron teaches you how to do it. If the widget is on, nubtron will assume the user already did it themselves and skip the step.

Wouldn't you rather teach people why they should do it and let them do it themselves instead of doing it for them?

Changed 2 years ago by Saktoth

I have to do it every time i install on a new machine, etc.

It should just be on. Nubtron should teach them about what the widget does.

Also, browsing the widget menu is utterly ungainly information bombardment- we should NOT get noobs to do this.

I'll add it to the CA menu then.

Is this the widget that makes cons guard their own factory? I hate that widget and find it very confusing. I dont think it is good for newbies.

How can you live without it! No downtime on your cons.

Anyway, car, there should be a menu area called 'automation' with autoskirm, autojink, etc, and settings for each. Or under 'interface'. Or such.

Though crudemenu is kind of a mess ATM (interface and graphics overlap, like with night widget).

Thank you for the suggestions, this is what I have been waiting for.

I chose the "Video" section to imply stuff that hurts your video performance, as opposed to the view section which is intended for stuff you see (like camera types, radar icon types).

Let's discuss in the channel.

Yes. They start guarding the factory when they leave it. They don't follow the factory way points.

So you have a bunch of cons at you factory, stalling m and no cons at the front to reclaim. Ordering cons to the front is additional micro and costs time.

I am very upset by this poll. I worked hard to make a tutorial that teaches this and this widget being on for new people will bypass the lesson.

You shouldnt be teaching players how to use the widget list on their first game. That is Arcane Deep Knowledge, and the widget menu is a monster of poorly descriptive names to navigate. You certainly shouldnt be teaching them how to turn on a widget because you believe it should be on anyway!

You didn't seem to read what I said correctly.

I teach them to guard their factory.

I'll break that down.

Select the constructor you just built (I'm highlighting it in blue).

Good job. Now right click on the factory (I'm highlighting it in blue). This will tell your constructor to assist that factory so it builds faster.

If the widget is on, this nice little lesson is skipped.

Did I ever mention I don't like widgets which dick with my unit orders when I don't want them to?

Changed 2 years ago by Saktoth

If you order a con at your factory, and it trundles to your frontline when all you want is for it to guard your fac, you are wasting heaps of BP.

You should always have spare cons at your factory, assisting, that you can pull off your factory to re-enforce.

Me neither. I hate the lack of control in aircraft reloading. This difference is that I want my cons to be dicked around with.

You can't argue which behaviour is better, both are available in widget settings and people will use whichever they want. The argument is what is easier for noobs to understand to begin with.
