New turrets

Ive increased the height of the fury and the artic, so they are now as tall as the LLT's, though the fury looks like it could blow over in a stiff breeze. Ive also removed the 'recoil' and on the artic and fury (lasers dont recoil...), and made the fury shoot out of only one gun (looks weird and imbalanced otherwise, though ill revert if people prefer it).

However, a few issues still remain. Firstly the artic is a pop-up, and thus is resistant to artillery (Specifically, im worried about Samson) and poor vs rushes and fast units (Though ive upped the unpack speed). Im not against pop-ups, but half our damn turrets are pop-ups already.

On the whole, i dont totally see the point of these replacing the LLT's, as they fill prettymuch the same role and this is likely to mostly confuse people. In addition, the fury looks like the cheaper, weaker one and the artic looks heavier and more powerful. The Artic also has a pair of polygons missing at the top.

On the Deva and the Pre, i find this whole 'weapon reduces damage with range' thing to be highly counter-intuitive. It would be much better in my opinion to make the Deva inaccurate at range, and have it be the turret that reduces damage over range- as such a thing is indicated by the in game physics and is easy to understand. A laser which reduces damage over range (but looks, otherwise, identical to all other core lasers) needs to be indicated in the unit tooltip in every case. If we want to make a new weapon with a new set of effects, perhaps a 'heat beam' sort of thing, with the implicit understanding that the very nature of a heat beam makes it better at close range, i wouldnt mind that at all (In fact, we have far too many green lasers in this game so imo its a good idea).

The Deva also has a scripted on/off with a damagemod, but it can still fire perfectly well while 'off' (So there is no reason to leave it on). Its script is really, really complex. Absurdly complex, with lots of static vars and other stuff that i just dont think is working at all in spring.

The fury and artic would have "LLT" as in-game name. The fury is just a new model for the LLT, the idea is to make it look weaker than the old LLT, since it has half DPS. I was thinking of making the artic cloak when closed an let it have no damage modifier. It would be a trap for raiders looking for an easy kill. The player would need to decide between surprise and response time. It might be too elaborate for such a basic turret, though. We can size it down if it looks too powerful.

The deva makes constant damage, it has nothing special. It has stats similar to the HLLT.

Yeah, I was thinking of making giving heat beams (you found the perfect term!) the yellow laser, which is just used for the termite, and stun weapons for some reason. Stun weapons would get back the OTA blue, there is no risk of confusing them with anni lasers anyway. The tutorial widget should help explaining the concept to players. The framework is mostly done, I just need to fix a few things and write all the text.

The deva was an exploiter-like armed mex. I havent cleaned all the mex-related animations and functions. I can easily do that, I think.

      Id say so, yeah.

I needed to size it up so it had the same shooting angle as the LLT (If it doesnt have that shooting angle, it cant shoot over your own troops or wrecks, which is terrible. Its the sturdiness of the frame (as compared to the fury, which sits on a tripod) that makes it look sturdy.

We might as well use a different graphic, and probably a core-less weapon, with different effects etc, rather than just a 'yellow laser'.

I think yellow lightning. Blue lightning does damage and stuns, yellow lightning stuns.
