Balancing mavs and morties

Just a remark regarding currently overpowered skirmishers (maverick, morty etc).

As a design goal, raiders should be able to defeat skirmishers.

To achieve this, skirmishers must be slightly slower than raiders and they cannot be antiswarm (lower ROF, no AOE, smaller accuracy against fast moving targets).

Therefore I propese to alter maverick in such way (no AOE, small ROF, slower flying bullets, slower speed). Changing it's other attributes wont solve much. Skirmishers should be able to defeat assault class when microed (=even bulldogs if you hand control them).

If you lower their range or DPS they might not be able to do this while still being effective against raiders.

And adding regen to skirmishers is imho just wrong. Regen should be for raiders or some very rare units not for skirmishers.

    Saktoth planned to change the Mav's role to Riot, if I understood correctly. Looking at the stats, I'd say that the Mav hasn't been nerfed enough, but of course, we need to test.

      I would describe its role as a 'duelist', a 'gunslinger' kbot, though in the traditional roles, its probably assault/combat.

      If you take it on one at a time, it will win. But if you overwhelm it with heavy firepower (Annis, snipers, hlt's etc) or swarm it with lots of raiders all at once, it quickly falls. If all you have is one llt after another after another though, it will take these out with ease.

      Its cleans up any small pockets of defense and needs an concerted effort or a strongly defended area to stop it.

      In my vision, it is the counterpart to the can- the can has hp up the wazoo, the mav has hp regen. Both very hard to kill but without a very strong weapon. Of course, at the moment, the can also has a very good weapon so it doesnt fit that ideal, its more of a frontline t2 kbot assault unit.

      Anyway as a result of this, the mav has a dramatically reduced range and DPS. It is no longer a skirmisher. The fido is the skirmisher at t2 bots, dont need two.

        What is its purpose then? You already have potent assault bot (zeus).

        And right now maverick cannot be killed by raider swarms effectively..

          When testing, a dozen peewees or so took it down. It will also easily be taken out by a hlt or a few llts in a bunch. Its not necessarily raiders- its anything. You just need a concerted effort to kill it.

          The Zeus has paralysis, it is better at taking out large, single threatening targets such as HLT's (though its also good at preventing raiders and mid-range skirms from retreating). While they are both quite good against single targets if sent one at a time, they operate in significantly different fashions.

          However, i do concede that the para on the zeus and the regen on the mav give it similiar abilities.

            Yeah but a dozen of peewee is too much ... Dozen of peewees is equal in metal to maverick.. And peewees (raiders) should be counter to it..

            What ground unit (if not peewes) has significant economic advantage against groups of mavericks?

              Anything with range or high dps. A couple Janus probably pwns it.

                We never tested it and anyway, we need kbot counter for it..

                  A hak beats a mav easily. A pair of storms will kill it with their first rocket (due to storm high damage per shot). Its actually UP atm for the high price tag due to my noifs.
