CA Freezes during start-up

Hello. I am new to CA and do not know very much about it yet. When I try to start playing, I see a title screen, and see messages like "Loading Game Data Definitions", "Loading Lua Rules", "Loading LuaUI", and then "Finalizing...", and I hear a sound file ("Command console activated"). But then it freezes, and nothing else happens. When I look in the Windows Task Manager, I see that the Spring process is not responding. My version of Spring is 0.82.61. I suspect that maybe my computer's video card is not good enough, but I get the same failure on two different computers. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

      Spring Lobby 0.118 Spring 0.82.6.1 Complete Annihilation stable-8405 or PKZ v1.2

      It seems to progress through loading the game elements, but freezes when it says "Finalizing...". Then I have to kill the process.

          Here is my infolog.txt. The last entry indicates "hang detection". There are many entries after this, all hang detection dumps. Maybe the answer lies somewhere in this log?

              The log indicates that the freeze originates from video drivers. Try upgrading video drivers and try to tweak some details: turn off water, lua shaders, enable compressed textures, turn off pixel buffer scrolling.

              You can also edit lups.cfg (in spring filder) and disable distortions.
