General (#1) - Unit Improvement Suggestions - Roach (#139) - Message List
Suggestion 1:
Reduce selfD radius, make it same as decloak radius for ex, or better 2. add a "range selector" button, like the "retreat button", and user selects the detonation range
Suggestion 2:
A big range to deal damage to many small units, as a default, but also a small range to kill specific big HP units.
I understand that we do not want to make the game too complex, but I think that this idea at least deserves a test.

Aren't you referring to the invader? It's a t2 core kbots slow moving cloaking bomb. I think it's a very arm unit and it needs redesigning.

I think it should be turned into a firebomb, or some kind of firebomb unit.

No it's T1 Roach, a unit that no one uses because on the contrary of Tick it costs too much, is too slow and detonates too far from target.
Suggestion 3: remove it, along with emp missile since lastest test versions, with the benefit of saving HDD space.

Roach is a little hard to use, but its fine when you do use it. Id rather see it have more HP than more speed.
EMP missile is a good unit, why remove it? HDD space, thats no reason.

Variable self-d ranges would be too much micro.
I like the idea of a firebomb for the invader.
The problem with the roach is speed. The speed difference between units that it is trying to kill is too big for it to catch them fast enough.
EMP missile is a good unit, why remove it? HDD space, thats no reason.
Universal is suggesting that the EMP missile has been nerfed beyond all usefulness.

Yeah, you're probably right. Could the little bombs, perhaps, have SOME purpose other than to mix in with my valuable units when I'm not looking? These things only seem useful to a skilled micro-manager. I can't babysit crawling bombs and build mexes, nano towers, fusions, defenses, and more factories, while managing an assault.
P.S. Maybe the little bombs could have a little "gravity puller" which makes them pull toward the unit they are attacking?

That whole "sneak into your base and snipe you" thing DOES seem like a nasty ARM thing to do.
